Prehistoric Artefacts

25th Mar 2026

Today our P3/4/5 children had the chance to become real-life archaeologists for the day. They examined a fascinating collection of genuine prehistoric objects: a flint knife, flint arrowhead and several shark teeth, all many thousands of years old. The children were able to handle the artefacts carefully, look closely at their shapes and textures, and talk together about who might have used them and what they might have been used for.

These special items were kindly lent to us for the day by Mathilda’s family. Some of the artefacts were discovered in France, some in Germany and some in the Netherlands, giving the children a sense of how people lived across different parts of Europe in prehistoric times. Experiences like this really help to bring our learning to life and spark curiosity, questions and imagination.
