PATHS

8th Sep 2021

We have started a programme called PATHS. PATHS stands for: Promoting Alternative THinking Strategies and is a programme designed to develop emotional awareness, peer relations, self-control and interpersonal problem-solving.

We created our classroom rules together which were discussed at length.  Our first lesson focused on compliments; what they are, different types of compliments, how they make us feel and how we can react when we receive them.

We will be participating in a PATHS lesson once a week and on this day we will choose a different pupil to be PATHS Pupil of the Day.  The Pupil of the Day will help the teacher throughout the lesson.  At the end of the lesson we will produce a Compliments List for the Pupil of the Day.  This consists of one compliment given by the teacher, two compliments from the class and one compliment by the Pupil of the Day themselves.  The Pupil of the Day will get the Compliments List to take home, along with an accompanying letter for their parent or guardian.  We also have the Compliments List displayed in the classroom until the following lesson.

We hope this will encourage an increased level of self-esteem, self-awareness and positivity. Look who our first Pupil of the Day was....
