Learning about life in Ancient Egypt
In school we have been learning about life in Ancient Egypt. We visited the Navan Centre in Armagh to further examine the impact of the Ancient Egyptians.
As an introduction we were involved in sorting a timeline of key dates in Egyptian history from 8000 BC to 100 AD.
We were then taken through the mummification process and many of us had an opportunity to act out the various parts of the process, from preparing the body with Natron salt, to using tongs to take out the internal organs and wrapping the body in linen for burial. We thoroughly enjoying this interactive element of the programme.
We heard about Egyptian Gods and were introduced to some farmers and a funny slave, who made us laugh. We experienced an Egyptian home and finally, we made some Egyptian jewellery to take home.
We are looking forward to learning more about the Ancient Egyptians.
